Bla… Bla… Bla…

“We are the best of the best, gentlemen. You know, what is behind that wall? Immortality, take it, it’s yours!” –Achilles (Spartan)

Guten Tag, alle! (in German, good day, everyone!) Maybe, you heard this before. I think when we want to say in public, especially encouraging to other people, this is the thing you should say. That’s right folks, today I’m going to talk about rhetoric: the art of speaking eloquently.

First of all, we have to know “why” we speak in public. Most of them failed the purpose of rhetoric speaking which eventually it is the ultimate reason why they can’t even utter a single word at the stage. Do you know that no. 1 fear in US is not spiders, snakes but public speaking?! Hah! I know it’s quite surprising but that’s the reality, mates. In history, the Romans will elect their leader which has the capability to speak in public effectively to convey message done by the Council. For example, Julius Cesar is the men who responsible in influence his pupil to expand Rom by conquer the other place nearby and he became the Emperor which he abolished the Council later.

Now, we already know “why”, next, we approach on how we can convey our message efficiently to the audience. Again, you must know what are the purpose and your targeted audience. If you have kids as your listener, don’t you ever harsh on them and use softer tone as they are growing and trying to understand the world they live in. Other than that, you can apply the same thing to the elderly or people with higher rank than you. Nevertheless, for army or to motivate other people, we can use harsher tone and use stronger word together with action that implies the same thing. This will ultimately brings powerful message and probably you can win the war easily!

Haha, still worry huh? Nah, my father always said to me, to speak in front of other people, of course, you will be scared, but you can convert it to energy and energy will convert to effort. Make sense? How about the butterflies in your stomach slowly being digested and sap their energy to do the speaking? In short, just be confident, and focus to the task, not to the fear of the task. Before I end my post, I would like to announce that I’m not going to use Facebook and MSN messenger for one-year period. If you want to send me a message, just kindly use the chatbox and don’t ya ever use unnecessary language in it. Ok, thank you for your time, folks!

War Strategies

Peace be upon to you, ladies and gentlemen. What’s up, everybody? I hope you are having good time at whenever, wherever or with whatever. Thanks to my members of the club that participate the Chinese New Year Open House, a great kick start for the club for this year, actually. Ok, let get down to the business, today, meine Damen und Herren, (if you can speak German, it means ladies and gentlemen), I am going to talk something at is long time has been one of my interests since little. One and only, (if nobody speak about it), WAR STRATEGIES!

If you notice, war has been one of the commonest things in mankind history. That’s one thing we learn (or might as well ignore it). But, one particular interest that I observed closely is, how those people can win the war. So, we can define the strategy as “how” or “silent tool” to defeat opponents in the war. I am actually quite amused with all sort of tactics and techniques used in the past to outwit their enemies in the war using intelligence and psychology.

For example, In the dawn of human civilization, Alexander the Great, one of the greatest leader of all time, used to ask his army to knock hard on the shield which at their left hand with their sword to make the enemy feel unconfident to continue with their action. Apart from that, one of the strategists in early-time China, used hot air balloon to bypass a city that heavily guarded. He just used 1,000 out of 10,000 soldiers at that time. Other than that, Khalid al-Walid, which is one of the most brilliant army commanders in Islam, apply the law of psychology of which the enemy thought the reinforcement for Moslem army has arrived and they ran back to their country. All these stories are somehow making me feel ecstatic about the winning of the war in much more honorable way.

So, I started to find Red Alert 3, Rise of Nations and Civilizations as games that become my practice in testing out my analysis skill. Anyway, I can play as a great commander leads its battalion to the victory tag. But, somehow, as our world evolves, science and technology has reduced the capability and creativity of mankind to defeat enemies in war. In lament term, war nowadays simply a “show” to see which country has the most powerful weapon, instead of courage of a soldier and the intelligence of a commander. We can take Israel as the “best example” for this statement, they used the white phosphorus bomb (one of the forbidden weapons listed in UN) to kill innocent women and children mercilessly. In my opinion, I do not consider as a war, I define it as more to ethnic cleansing which Israel wants every single corner of Palestine to be occupied with their own citizen.

So, do you feel interested to know more about these brilliant war strategies and tactics? What say you? I will say that, you can refer Sun Tzu: Art of War as the fundamental understanding of war strategies. Hey, do not forget, you can apply most of the concept from it into daily life routine such as business and studying for your examination. What’s more, you can watch Master and Commander: Far Side of the World, Battle of Wits and Saving Private Ryan. I think that’s all, or not I will talk for pages just to satisfy my heart. Hihi, ok see ya in the next post.

Engineering – Mechatronic

We meet once again, ladies and gentlemen. Oh yeah, another holiday just in time to give me a-seventh-heaven rest out of the hectic life of a college student. Relief, huh? Refering to the title now, all of you must be wondering the details and history of engineering that set the course of human development in applying physics in our daily life (do you?). (Whatever) Actually, I’m writing this because recently, there was a Robo-Fair 2009 held in Cineleisure which kind of interesting in terms of the achievement of university student in mastering that field. Well, let’s get started for our topic!

If I’m not mistaken, engineering comes from the word engine which originates from the Latin word, ingenium that defines as “innate quality, especially mental power, hence a clever invention.” The history of this field set back as early as Archimedes era which he designed a number of inventions that obey the rule of physics. Before him, Imhotep was the first civil engineer who designed the Great Pyramid. Now, as the era of modernization is taking place all over the place, a lot of branches of engineering are made to sustain the need of human being. For instance, there are electrical & electronic engineering (E & E), computer engineering, material engineering, molecular engineering and latest, robotic engineering (my favourite!!!).

Now, I would like to narrow down the scope of engineering to my cup of tea. You see, mechatronic engineering or also known as robotic engineering is the combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and computer engineering. This field is quite new and has the toughest challenge within it because the engineer have to build a machine or the lament term, a robot to somehow adapt to the targeted environment and simultaneously fulfill the objective of its creation. Simple you say? Nah, actually, engineers have to corporate and achieve consensus with others in order to produce the most optimum robot in the most aspects such as material used, programmes, features of the robot and so on.

As for robots, they have to posess 3 things in common; input (sensors), body and output (reaction). Lack of one of these, they can’t categorized themselves as what they are. The word robot was derived to the public by Czech writer Karel Čapek in his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), which premiered in 1921. The robots, sooner or later, were heavily used in industrial factory to replace the manpower to increase the efficiency of line production such as automobile installation. In present, the researchers are focused more on constructing humanoid, or simply a robot with human characteristics on it. This is because they can be used in giving out service to human as a maid who can clean, wash or cook. If you can’t get it, it’s just like the I Robot (which at the end, the robots rebel and fought against human for their freedom). To know more about this field, please feel free to surf the net or specifically Wikipedia. Hmm, I think that’s all in my mind. Catch up the next chapter of my discussion, ya? See ya!

Venus VS Mars!!!

Hey! (Sigh) What a relief! I can say it is a blessing to have a week off from the college, (sorry, I don’t mean I hate the classes, but I just need some time to have a break and reorganized myself.) Ok, let see, umm, how about we talk one of the topic which you guys maybe like to talk about when you meet up in the café? (And time to kill, of course!)

It seems that throughout the history of mankind, the society has witnessed remarkable event and undisputedly horror of men’s and women’s ups and downs. So, the one million dollar question is, “Who is the best, men or women?” I bet many of us knew the answer or some knew but still insists that they are more superior to the other gender. Believe me, I have a better explanation that perhaps can satisfy most of you who reads this post.

Ok, let’s see from the biological aspect, men were made stronger than women because their upper abdomen is much bigger than the opposite gender. In contrast, women are considered weak, I mean, they are less capable in terms of physical strength because their lower abdomen are basically stronger than the upper ones. So, indeed, men are brawnier than women. Next, if you observe from the psychological context, men are more playful than women and that’s natural because that’s the way of them to preserve their rationality and far-sightedness. Meanwhile, women are more focused in getting their objective achieved and willing to let their pleasure go to enjoy greater benefit in the future. Oh yeah, now I get it, the other purpose of marriage is simply to balance the way of thinking of the couple. That’s not hard to think about it, isn’t it?

Then, in past, we notice that men are more famous and respected for their wisdom, strength and leadership, such as Prophet Muhammad, Alexander The Great, Hannibal, Khalid al-Walid (if you know him),Napoleon Bonaparte, Mahatma Gandhi and etc. Women are less distinguished but still they make difference in the way of society looking them like Queen Elizabeth I that abolished rules that implied restriction on women in England during her era. In present, women are judged based on their performance in academic and capable in completing men’s job efficiently and vice versa for men. Others changed their genital organ just to be like the opposite ones because they can’t cope their stress and psychology confusion and abuse. So, both had changed the world where we live in and equalize their position as high as the sky and low as the ground. All in all, it doesn’t matter who beats who, but it will be a better thing for both gender to use what they possess and acquire and fulfill their responsibilities toward themselves and people around them rather than you waste your time criticize others without learning any lesson at all. That’s all, my friends for this post. Stay put for the next post, ya?
